Canadians are a superstitious and cowardly lot.
The clock has wound down on 2013 and as we let the ink dry on the final chapter of the year that was, we need to address one lingering yet important issue early in this new year – a tarnished Canadian brand.
Yes, we have lots to celebrate the past year – getting rid of the penny and watching home-grown astronaut Chris Hadfield do us proud as he took the world by storm, managing the International Space Station and sharing his out-of-this-world images through Twitter. We can also fete a dollar that was at par with the US for a few months; signing the Wayne Gretzky of trade deals with the EU and our overall strong economic foundation that continues to be the envy of the globe.
But that good news is being overshadowed.
As Canadians, we found ourselves in the not-so-enviable position of having the rest of the world…
